Welcome to the Art Room!

img_1937.jpg (504×379)As a visual arts teacher, I’m a firm believer in the importance of helping students to see the connections between the arts and other subjects like science, math, history, geography and literature.  My goal is to teach children to be creative problem solvers and see the world through a creative lens so that they can make effective and innovative decisions.  Through art class, students become confident in their ability to be makers and doers.

I’m a painter and a collage artist who joined the art teacher world after working in the field for many years. I earned a BFA in painting and printmaking from the University of Notre Dame and an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art, Graduate School of Figurative Art.

In addition to teaching, I’m also a member of e2 education & environment, an education non-profit with a goal to create shared learning experiences for children across the globe. We have created books about the environment with children from St. Stephens School here in New York to schools in Florida, and West Virginia, from Kenya and Cambodia to Guyana.
