Great job on your Energy Transformation quizzes last week! Before moving on to our next topics, we're going to have some fun with Mystery Science! This week we are going to explore: Where does energy come from?

For today, you will watch the first part of the Mystery (Exploration) independently--STOP at the discussion question: What kinds of alternative sources of energy have you heard of? or STOP when you see the word "Activity" and the picture of something that looks like a factory. We will continue the activity on Thursday on Zoom as a class!

As you watch today's video, pause at the discussion questions to think about your answers to them. You can even jot down your answers in your science notebook. You will need to submit your answers to some of these questions as your classwork!

On Monday, you reviewed some vocabulary related to Earth Day, including renewable and nonrenewable resources. We know that nonrenewable resources are limited, and cause a lot of harm to our Earth, but then why can't we just use renewable energy resources?

Each type of energy resource comes with its own challenges, but scientists and engineers are working to create solutions that use clean energy. They certainly don't have all the answers yet, but they are inspiring!

Did you know that this Wednesday, April 22, is Earth Day? AND that Friday, April 24th, is Arbor Day? What a week to be in science class!

TODAY, you will learn some important vocabulary terms related to Earth Day. Some of these terms you should already be familiar with, but I am sure you will be able to expand your definitions of each term!

Follow the directions in the assignment below. Be sure to watch the video clips when prompted!

We will continue to discuss energy transformations from before the break, but you can also think about the energy transformations that happen from renewable and non-renewable resources!

You should start this assignment after completing watching or participating in our Zoom class today! If you really want to start early, that's okay :)

Next Monday, you should finish the stations by completing Write It, Assess It, Organize It, & Illustrate It.

You SHOULD NOT complete all these activities in 1 day. These stations are not due until next Tuesday morning, so you can continue to work on this next week.
