As a Catholic School, we want our students to understand that Lent is a time of reflect and a time to come closer to God through their words and actions. We seek to help them understand the three pillars of Lent – Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving.
Our service project for Lent is intended to help our students think about giving back to others and supporting those in need. We are excited to be partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and participating in "Pennies for Patients" to raise funds to support blood cancer. This is a particularly important initiative for our school this year because we have seen one of our own students fighting leukemia this year. The theme of Pennies for Patients is "Every Hero Needs a Squad," because kids fighting childhood leukemia are heroes, showing courage and strength every day, and through Pennies for Patients, we can join their squad and support them in their fight!
Our Pennies for Patients program will run throughout Lent, ending on Friday, March 23rd.We are looking forward to starting a hero filled Lent on Wednesday as we teach our students about the importance of supporting others.
