On Thursday, January 25th, parents, teachers and friends were in attendance at our Winter Violin Concert: Hungarian Culture Celebration. The concert featured the works of Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály with each group of performers introduced by classmates of Hungarian descent.
Our violin program is just one component of the music education that each student receives at St. Stephen of Hungary. Violin instruction can begin as young as prek-4 in our After School program. Advanced students in the After School program perform in as members of the Bach group. By 4th grade all students receive violin instruction one class a week. Advanced students are invited to participate in the Chamber Ensemble. Students in Chamber Ensemble practice an additional period each week, sacrificing their recess time.
We are fortunate to have a strong violin program led by Ms. Elaiza León. We also are thankful to our parents who support this program for recognizing the value of an arts education and the role of music in educating the whole child.
Watch the calendar for announcements about the Spring Violin Concert as well as the Young Fiddlers concert which will feature student in our After School program.
