STEM Club is an exciting new opportunity offered to 6th and 7th grade students during the 2017-2018 school year. Interested students applied for this morning club, where they are building, creating, and learning about the science of sound!
Using the format of i2 Learning, students are learning about the science of how sound is created and how instruments and speakers are engineered. Working as a team, students are
building their own speakers and then working to create their own musical instruments, or anything else they can imagine with the materials provided. The team will then take part in a competition in March, titled "The Sounds of Spring."
Each team competing will have been provided with BOSEbuild speaker cubes and their light and sound sensors, to create a musical performance that best captures the spring season. Performances will be judged on a rubric measuring creativity, technical ability, teamwork, and presentation. The official i2 competition will take place in Boston in March, where the students will compete against other middle school students from the Boston and New York areas.
