Registration for the TACHS Exam
Eighth grade students who wish to apply for admission to area Catholic High Schools may need to take the Test for Admission to Catholic High Schools, depending upon the requirements of their school(s) of choice. Students who register for the TACHS examination will receive an entry ticket approximately one week prior to the exam. Students will enter their three Catholic school choices (from among the Catholic schools who utilize the TACHS exam) on the entry ticket, the parent will sign the ticket and the student presents the ticket upon entry to the exam.
The TACHS examination is scheduled for Friday, November 8th, and the student's test site is assigned by the Archdiocese of New York. The TACHS Registration site will accept internet registrations until 5:00 PM on Monday, October 21st, 2019. For students who wish to request additional time for testing, based upon an established 504 Plan or IEP, the deadline for registering and submitting documentation to the Archdiocese (not the TACHS Office) is October 11, 2019. Parents can access the TACHS Handbook, which contains sample test questions and additional registration information, on the TACHS website. Please note that parents must submit documentation for additional testing time. St. Stephen of Hungary School can help answer questions about submitting documentation but cannot submit the documentation for additional testing time on your behalf.
Once students are registered for the test, an account is established and St. Stephen of Hungary School can begin to populate your child's account with transcript information, etc. This will be done by the school and no further action is required by you.
