Math Test on Monday

Students will use 3 handouts to help them study for the test. The handouts are already glued into their math notebooks.

They are
1. Lines of Symmetry (black and white)
2. Types of Triangles (in color)
3. Two-Dimensional Shapes (in color)

Only material from these three handouts will be included on the test since the end of Module 4 is very short.

Math Review Sheet

Mid-Module 4 Review Sheet

Test on Tuesday, March 3rd

Please use Lessons 1 - 4, lesson 6 (use monster angles worksheet), lessons 10 - 11, and your math notebook to help you prepare for the test.

  • What are points, line segments, lines, and rays? Can you draw them?
  • Can you identify acute, right, and obtuse angles?
  • Which lines are parallel lines and which are perpendicular lines?
  • How can I use a protractor to measure the degrees in an angle?
  • How can I find the missing degrees of an angle by using adjacent angle measures to solve problems using a symbol for the unknown angle measure?

Math Test on Tuesday, March 3rd

Students will have their Mid-Module 4 Math test next week. They will receive review sheets tomorrow.

Protractors

Students borrowed protractors today to help them with their math homework worksheet. They have a sheet pasted into their math notebooks on how to use protractors and they also practiced using them in class. I asked the students to bring back the protractors back to school because we will need them for math class tomorrow as well.

Have a great evening!

Math Angles Project

Good Afternoon 4th Grade Parents,

The 4th graders will have a math angles project due on Friday, February 28th (2 weeks). The students will have to look for angles all around them! I challenged them to find 3 acute angles, 3 right angles, and 3 obtuse angles. They can either take pictures of these objects that create these angles or sketch/draw a picture of them.

Examples/Ideas:
Students can draw/take a picture of 2 chopsticks creating an acute angle as they're waiting for their dinner to arrive.
Students can draw/take a picture of a frame of a painting creating a right angle as they visit a museum.
Students can draw/take a picture of a beach chair creating an obtuse angle if they go to a beach.

After they have collect the 9 pictures/drawings, then they may either create a powerpoint slide presentation, brochure, or a poster to share their angles with their classmates. They are more than welcome to find more than just 9 angles if they would like.

I did explain the project to them in class today, but if they forget what the angles look like, then I am going to put a video link on my classroom website to help them.

I hope they have fun looking for angles all around them in the next 2 weeks! I'm excited for them to share the angles they find with their classmates!

I hope you have a wonderful and safe February Break!

Kind regards,
Ms. Koch

Math Review Sheet

If you would like to start studying for the math test, then you may use this to help you know which lessons to study from.

Test on Tuesday, February 4th

Topic: Multiplication and Division

  • I can find the quotient/remainder when I divide (Lesson 16, 18, 26, 28, 29)
  • I can divide and check the solution by multiplying. (Lesson 30)
  • I can use an area model to divide. (Lesson 33)
  • I can find the factors of a number and identify the number as prime or composite. (Lesson 22)
  • I can write the multiples of a number. (Lesson 24)
  • I can use the standard algorithm and an area model to solve 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication expressions. (Lesson 35)
  • I can solve multiplication and division word problems.

Christmas Break (Multiplication Review)

I did not assign Christmas break homework. However, I did recommend for students to go over their multiplication facts if it takes them longer than 3 seconds to figure out the answer to a multiplication fact. Their goal is to figure out the product in 3 seconds or less!
Example: 7 x 7 = ?

This will help them with the upcoming math topic (multiplication/division of multi digit numbers).

Ideas:

flashcards

online multiplication websites/apps

Ask your child to play a math facts game with you on your walks, commutes, etc.

Tests

Math Test tomorrow!

The students received their graded science tests back today. They are in their folders.
