Class Parents are integral to the operation of St Stephen of Hungary School. The Class Parents time and effort is greatly appreciated by the children, teachers and other parents, and improves the school community for all. The role of Class Parent does not extend to issues relating to teaching or issues with individual students. Parents should talk to teachers individually regarding their own child. Class parent responsibilities Each class has at least one (1) parent and ideally three (3) representatives. A Class Parent serves as a liaison between the Classroom Teachers and the parents; and every Class Parent should be cognizant of their responsibility toward the other parents, the teachers, and the school. This role can be shared among several parents or guardians from a class and responsibilities may be divided (take turns attending meetings, one (1) Class Parent to facilitate communications with other parents and the teacher, organizing classroom events, etc). Class Parent responsibilities include: 1. Setting up a list of telephone numbers and email addresses and creating a class telephone tree for emergencies such as the closure of school 2. Supporting your grade-level teacher. This may include volunteering for or finding volunteers for field trips, assisting teachers with administrative tasks, planning and arranging class social events (i.e., potluck, year end picnic, etc.). 3. Supporting school events, such as the Halloween Carnival, Secret Santa Sale, bake sales, or other events sponsored by the Parents Association by volunteering or finding volunteers from your class and/or communicating to the parents in your class. 3. Distributing weekly reminders to your class. 4. Serving as a critical link in communicating feedback and information between parents and teachers. As a representative for your class, parents may approach you about concerns and ideas they would like to share with the school. Teachers may solicit your feedback regarding grade-level events and changes, as well as ask you to disseminate information regarding the class. 5. At least one (1) Class Parent from each class should attend all Parents' Association meetings to ensure that there is regular communications between the parents and the administration. 8. Assists with implementing teachers’ appreciation event and teacher’s gift (as appropriate) 9. Facilitates informal or formal feedback requests/polls/surveys on behalf of the Parents Association or administration. If you are interested in this position, we are counting on you to: 1. Attend at least three (3) Parents' Association meetings. Meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:15 pm. 2. Check your e-mail regularly (every day or almost every day). 3. Forward, in a prompt manner, emailed information from teachers, the School and the Parents' Association. 4. Contacting parents, organizing volunteers, and interacting regularly with teachers.
