Challenge $100,000 funding cuts for St. Stephen's School / Advocate for your child's education!
There are several proposals in the NY State legislature to limit funding to religious and independent schools. The proposed cuts total $243 Million - which is $500 for every Catholic school student. This means almost $100,000 for St. Stephen's of Hungary school.
Please help advocate for our children's education by writing to the Governor and your state representatives. There is a relatively easy way to do this via e-mail. Go to www.nyscatholic.org and click on 'Take Action'. The web site will take you to a screen with a pre-written letter. Please add a few sentences at the beginning to describe what these cuts would mean to your family. The web site automatically determines who your state senator and assembly person are, sends the email to them and the Governor and sends a copy to your email.
We are only asking to be treated fairly by the state. Federal stimulus money has been used to restore funding to public schools but parochial schools are still cut by 50%. For more information on these issues, please read the issues page on www.nyscatholic.org.
