Dear Third Grader,

Welcome to a new school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and are excited about the first day of school. My name is Ms. Murphy and I am going to be your teacher this year. I have been working hard this summer to prepare our classroom and cannot wait to meet you. This is my first year teaching at St. Stephen School and I feel honored to be part of such a tight-knit community of learners.

Together we are about to embark on an exciting learning adventure. We will have fun exploring concepts in subjects such as math, reading, writing, science and social studies. I believe that learning should be fun and hands-on. I also believe that everyone learns in different ways and I will work closely with you to determine how you learn best. This year we are going to stretch our minds and challenge ourselves to become true scholars.

Along with your school supplies and summer reading project, please bring a letter about yourself on the first day of school. In this letter you can include anything you think I should know about you. You might want to include your hobbies, your favorite and least favorite things about school and your goals for third grade. I would also like your parents/guardians to send you to school with a letter on the first day. This is their opportunity to brag about you! They can write about anything they think I should know about you and your journey through 3rd grade.

I am counting down the days to September 8 with great excitement! I cannot wait to get to know you and begin our exciting year of learning and exploration. Please feel free to contact me for any reason at kmurphy@saintstephenschool.org.

Sincerely,

Ms. Murphy
