I trust you are all enjoying these carefree days of summer while they last. If you enjoy hot weather- this has been the perfect summer for you. By this time you should have finished reading one of the required summer novels, and are well into the second. It might be a good idea to take notes or underline important events in each book that you will have an easier time preparing for the test at the end of September. This will be a year of applying to high schools. Your seventh grade marks play a major part of this-including your attendance, punctuality and behavior. This year you will prepare for the TACHS test which is scheduled to be given in early November. There will be Open Houses to attend, applications to fill out and deadlines to meet. It requires a great deal of preparation on your part. Please when you return in September have some idea of what schools you are interested in applying to. I will schedule individual parent meeting to discuss all of this. Two areas of great importance that I plan to stress in class this year are organizational skills and using your time wisely. These skills are essential for beginning high school. To accomplish this, it is important that you purchase the supplies listed on the list given or mailed to you in June. If in doubt wait and check with me on the first day. Likewise be very aware of the new uniform requirements which include the proper shoes. I will be going on retreat next week and will keep you and your families in my prayers. Enjoy the remainder of your vacation. Return on September 8th, prepared for all the challenges of your final elementary school year.
Blessings and best regards,
