Dear Parents,

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this year. This is my first year teaching at St. Stephen School and my 5^th year teaching.  I am originally from Yonkers, NY and received my Bachelors degree from Binghamton University, and my Masters in Early Childhood Education at Hunter College.  Prior to teaching in New York, I taught at an international preschool in Japan for one year. Just recently, I taught at Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY for three years.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and will learn differently. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning though play. Please also take a look at my website: ndenino@weebly.com to review my teaching portfolio.

Working jointly with me in PK 4B will be Ms. Kerry.  Ms. Kerry worked closely with Ms. Lisa last year in PK 3. She is a wonderful addition to the classroom and will be an integral part of your child’s success and growth this year.

Ms. Kerry and I hope you and your families are enjoying a wonderful summer.  The new school year will begin soon, and we are delighted that your child will be in our class.  We have been working together to prepare a positive learning environment, and look forward to welcoming the children to our classroom community. In the spirit of creating a classroom community, we ask that you help your child create an “All About Me” collage.  This simple collage can be filled with pictures of family members, favorite foods, hobbies etc. Please use paper or poster board no larger than the standard 8x14 size.

It is our goal that your child’s school experience will be filled with personal growth as a thinker and learner. We are looking forward to starting this adventure! Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing. 

We invite you to become a partner in your child’s learning experience in our pre-K 4’s class.  We believe that your involvement will help your child attain a higher level of success.  Our goal is to create an atmosphere of open communication regarding your child’s progress at home and in school.  By working together we will be able to meet the needs of your child.

Continue to enjoy the remaining days of the summer, and we look forward to seeing your child at the start of the school year!
