St. Stephen of Hungary School is proud of the accomplishments of its students, faculty and administration.  While there are too many to list in total, we would like to highlight certain accomplishments.  Congratulations to all and we look forward to many more.

Student Achievements

  • Selected from approximately 500 schools to appear in recital at Carnegie Hall.  (Grades 4, 5, and 6)
  • Awarded First Place, Junior High Division, in New York City Council Member Jessica Lappin’s East Side Children’s Art Contest featured at The Puccio Gallery.
  • Awarded Second Place, Junior High Division, in the New York Archdiocesan Respect Life Essay Contest.
  • Won contest to design program cover for Carnegie Hall’s Family Concert, “Caballeros, Cowboys, and Copeland” which was performed.
  • Approximately 23 student’s poems were selected to be published by “Pine Tree Poetry” contest.
  • Every grade from 1 through 8 scored on or above their grade level in math, reading and ELA in the 2006 Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) a national benchmark.

Grants

  • $30,000.00 matching grant from Project YESS for the cost of 88 new windows.
  • $4,800.00 from the Gilder Foundation to assist in providing additional personnel to process $3,000.00 of new library acquisitions.
  • $10,000.00 Early Childhood Literacy Grant (April 2005 & June 2007) to furnish new Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and enhance the literacy program.
  • Grant from Archdiocesan Educational Development Office for the first annual St. Stephen of Hungary School Alumni Newsletter.
