Letter from the Principal

August 2010

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to formally welcome our four new teachers to St. Stephen School

Our new Pre-Kindergarten 3 teacher, Ms. Nicole Pouliot, joins us after a year in New Orleans where she taught movement and dance to elementary students. She has been teaching for 10 years, and brings to the St. Stephen community a wide background in Early Childhood Education and Arts-based learning, as well as experience teaching students with special needs.  Miss Nicole earned a B.A. in Dance from the University of Michigan and a MFA in Dance from the University of Hawaii. She is currently finishing her ED.M in Early Childhood and Special Education at Brooklyn College. Many of you who volunteered this summer may have already met her painting murals in the PK classrooms.

Our new Pre-Kindergarten 4 teacher, Ms. Nicole DeNino, has been teaching for 5 years. She received her B.S. from Binghamton University, and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education at Hunter College.  Prior to teaching in New York, she taught at an international preschool in Japan for one year. Just recently, she taught at The Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY for three years.

Our new 2nd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Katie Fitzpatrick, has been teaching for over eight years. She has taught Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. She earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education at James Madison University and a M.S. in Reading from John Hopkins University. She has recently moved to NYC and is excited to explore our community.

Our new 3rd Grade Teacher, Ms. Kathleen Murphy, recently taught 1st grade at Incarnation St. James School in New Jersey. She earned a B.S in Elementary and Special Education and a M.S. in Reading from St. Joseph’s University. She is looking forward to continuing her journey as a Catholic educator.

Please be sure to welcome them into our wonderful community. We look forward to seeing you on your first day of school.

Many blessings,

Mrs. Katherine Peck, Principal
